The Basics you need to know
American Sign Language, or ASL, is used by Deaf, Deafened and Hard-of-hearing people. Now that there are hearing people who
want to communicate with those people, just about everyone knows some. ASL is talking with your hands. No sound, some mouth
movements, but no sound, as deaf people won't hear it anyways.
When you learn ASL, don't give up when it gets too hard, try to understand it, and if you just can't make it out, e-mail
me, and I'll try to help! Oh yes, and HAVE FUN!

About the designer of the site
This is all about Krista, and who she is.
Krista from Ontario, Canada has profound hearing loss. She is 16 years old, and wants to become a computer teacher at a deaf
school. She started to learn ASL when she was 14, with her mom, and grandmother. Krista's sudden hearing loss was never determined
by doctors, some say it was the ear infection and high fever, some are just dumbfounded.
Throughout her life, she had speech problems, making her very hard to understand when talking quickly. By the age of 3,
she worked with a speech teacher(Is that what you call them?). Then when she started school, she had a Teacher of the Hard-of-hearing
and deaf, Majkut, and an EA, Cunningham. Now, Krista has overcome speaking with her "ing"s "s"s and "t"s.
Her family and friends hardly ever ask her to repeat anymore.
